To subtract from number percentage number is divided by 100, then the resulting quotient multiplied by the given number and subtract this product from a given number, use the following formula:
R = H – (P / 100 * H), where:
R – result, H – the initial number, N – number of percent.
R = H – (P / 100 * H), where:
R – result, H – the initial number, N – number of percent.
2
In order to subtract a percentage using a calculator:
- type on the keyboard of the calculator to the original number;
- click on the minus ("-");
- enter the amount of interest;
- click on "%";
- click on the "=". If You did everything correctly, the display will show the number, reduced by a specified percentage.

3
To subtract from the number, the percentage using the computer, run the standard program Windows calculator (start –> Run –> calc –> OK). If the calculator is configured to "engineering" calculations, put it in the "simple" view (View –> Normal). The sequence of actions when using the computer calculator is the same as described in the previous paragraph.

If you subtract the percentage of the numbers you have to constantly, it is better to use MS Excel. To do this:
- start the Excel program;
- enter in the top-left cell (A1) the number 1000;
- enter in the top cell (B1) the number 13 (these numbers will need to control the correctness of your actions);
- move the cursor to the next cell (C1) and press the "="sign;
- specify cursor clicking the left mouse button) the cell A1;
- click "-";
again, specify cell A1;
- type "/100*";
- select cell B1 and press "Enter".
If everything was done correctly, then the cell C1 displays the number 870. Now, in order to subtract from the number a certain percentage, just type in cell A1 the number itself, and in cell B1 – number of percent. In cell C1 then the result will appear. If the result is not automatically recalculated (press F9.

Note
If the result is a negative number, then recheck the calculations. This can happen only in case if the percentage is greater than 100. In practice such a scenario is very rare.
