1
Let's just find matching plugs in the TV and computer. Video cards generally have two main types of ports to transfer video signals: VGA and DVI. Sometimes relatively old DVI port replaces it with a modern equivalent – HDMI.
2
Modern LCD and plasma TVs can be found from 3 to 6 kinds of connectors for receiving a video signal. Most often the following types: conventional antenna input, VGA, HDMI and SCART. It would seem that the most reasonable solution is to find a VGA cable to VGA and connect the TV with the computer. Method is one of the most convenient. But it has one significant drawback – port VGA transmits only an analog signal.
3
Fortunately, there are special cables that connect between a DVI and HDMI channels. That's on them we will stop.
4
Connect the selected cable to the graphics card of the computer and connector on the TV. Turn on both devices. After loading the operating system on the screen of the TV picture will be displayed on your desktop. If you see all the shortcuts and the mouse, the function screen mirroring is already active. In this case, at this stage you can complete the setup of the TV and the PC.
5
If you only see the background picture, then you have several options. Open control panel, select "Hardware and sound" and select "adjust screen resolution".
6
At the top of the new window you will see the image of the two displays. If you want to transfer the TV signal similar to the main monitor, then activate the option "Duplicate these displays".
7
If your goal is to increase the desktop area, then select "Extend this screen". In this case, you have the opportunity to use both displays independently from one another.
8
If you use the DVI port of the computer, then to transmit audio to the TV you will need a cable with sound connector on both ends.
