How to update BIOS of the video card

Start with finding the right version of the firmware. Manufacturers rarely post such files on official resources. For selecting the desired firmware follow the links in the "Additional sources". Be sure to check the compatibility of the selected firmware for a specific model of video card.

Select the program-flasher. For Radeon use applications WinFlash and ATIFlash. The first utility works with Windows system, and the second – only in DOS-mode. Create a bootable flash card. To do this, it is recommended to use the utility Grub4Dos, which allows you to manually set parameters multi-download.

Copy the flash file-firmware and application files ATIFlash. Better use this version, because flashing the card in Windows, as a rule, does not lead to positive results.

Run the program from a flash card, after restarting the computer and selecting the desired mode of operation of the utility ATIFlash. All further operations will be performed exclusively in the shell. It is strongly recommended to remove all the extra adapters if you have installed several of these devices.

Type the following commands sequentially:
atiflash.exe –i, where i is the number of the card (0 or 1);
atiflash.exe -s - save the current BIOS version;
atiflash.exe -pa nameofbios.bin - the firmware of the video card from the specified file. After you complete the procedure changing firmware restart the computer.

When working with graphics company Nvidia, use the utility NVFlash Win. This program works in environment of Windows system. It is preferable to use the 32-bit version of the OS.

Create folder in Document and Settings. Use only letters for the name of the folder. Copy to this directory file firmware, all the data from the NVFlash archive.

Run the Windows command shell. Type in nvflash -b backup.rom to save the current firmware. Now type nvflash -4 -5 -6 newbios.rom in order to run the firmware. In this case, newbios.rom – the file name of the firmware. Then restart the computer.
