Materials for weaving hammock

You will need:

  • durable synthetic rope (length depends on the size of the hammock);
  • 4 m thinner synthetic rope;
  • scissors;
  • 2 bars with a thickness of 3 cm and a length of 0.8 m;
  • roulette;
  • a simple pencil;
  • 2 metal rings with a diameter of 10 cm;
  • drill.

Stages of production of woven hammock

Make the sticks marking for holes at a distance of 8 cm from each other. Using a drill, drill holes, and their diameter should be such that they readily took the rope, folded in half.

Cut the rope into pieces, the length of which is 3 times the value of the product, i.e. if you plan to make a hammock 1.8 m length, you need to prepare lengths of 5.4 m. the Number of blanks must equal the number of holes on the bar multiplied by 2.

Take 2 cut and thread them through one hole on the bar. Pull one end of the rope for a length equal to a quarter of the length of the hammock of the future. Then thread them through the metal ring, fold the rope and tie off the end with a strong knot. In the same way fix all the other rope. To make it easier to weave, hang the ring on the hook, located at a distance of about 1.5-2 m from the floor, and the ends of the rope coil into small coils or fold into threads that unwind in the course of work.

Tie the ends of the rope threaded through the holes of the bar, in pairs by double nodes, with bundle cut from one hole with a rope from another. Then bind the grid in the same way, but staggered, stepping back 3-5 cm from the knots of the previous row. Don't make the grid too big.

Weave the necessary amount of mesh and thread the rope in pairs through holes in the second bar. Position it as close as possible to the knots of last row. Thread the ends of the rope through the second metal ring and tie their knots.

During operation, the hammock is not stretched, insert the edges of the product synthetic rope of smaller diameter. Cut 2 pieces of 2 meters each and pass them through the cells at the edges of the mesh. The ends of the rope secure on both sides by double nodes.

How to hang a hammock

If your site is fairly large trees with a trunk diameter of not less than 30 cm, growing at a distance of 1.5-2 m apart, the hammock can be attached to them at 1.5 m from the ground.

Another option is to install a special support for the hammock. Kopite in the ground 2 pole (metal or wooden). Screw them durable metal anchors with hooks and rings to hang your hammock. To lie it will be much nicer if on the grid to put a blanket and some pillows.
