Preparing SD card
As a rule, move data from one memory card to another is necessary after purchasing a new SD card with higher volume. The case seems to be not difficult, but there are some nuances, for example when you want to keep the functionality of all previously installed programs and applications.
Before transferring files onto a new memory card, it is necessary to prepare. The first thing to do is to format the memory card. This will allow to get rid of the problems at an early stage. To do this, go to "Menu", then to "Settings" select "Memory" and "erase SD card". Or you can connect your device to computer and format it as a normal removable disk (format should be FAT32).
After successful formatting, you need to assign a name to the memory card. Name is better to ask the same as in the old SD card. Then you need to turn on the computer the visibility of hidden folders and files. This can be done through the menu bar of any folder – Tools - "folder Options" - "View" (if the menu bar is not displayed you need to press the "Alt" key). Show hidden files you need to copy from the phone's memory card all data (some files may be hidden).
Transfer files
The easiest way to copy the data to another memory card using card reader. To do this, just insert the old SD card into the device, copy all data on the computer, and then insert into the card reader a new memory card and record this data on it. Typically, scanners support very high data transfer rate, so this process will take some time.
If no card reader, you can just copy the files through computer. For this you need to insert the old memory card in the smartphone to activate the corresponding operation mode to transfer data and connect the device to computer via USB cable. Then you need to copy all the data from the SD card to the desktop or any other folder. Depending on the total amount of information this procedure may be delayed.
After that you should disconnect the phone from the computer, turn it off and insert new memory card. Then again, you need to connect your device to the computer and move the files to the new SD card. If everything was done correctly, then all files and apps will display properly.
