When we talk about eye color, means the color of the iris. It depends on the amount of coloring pigment – melanin and the thickness of the shell. Since the same melanin responsible for skin color and hair, common color combinations is blue-eyed blondes and brown eyed brunettes – we owe it to him.

The iris works like the diaphragm, it contracts and expands in response to light. Another way to find out what your eye color or to assume with high probability what it will be like your child, is to construct an algorithm, based on the eye color of the parents. Modern genetics have proven that pigmentation is controlled by six different genes that interact with each other in co-dominant, dominant-recessive and dominant –negative scheme.
Light blue eyes have zero dominant alleles.
Blue – one dominant allele.
Blue – two dominant alleles.
Dark green three dominant alleles.
Light brown four dominant alleles.
Brown five dominant alleles.
Kari – six co-dominant alleles.
So, if the eyes of both of your parents light blue, you can not be the owner of the brown eyes.

Eye color changes with age due to melanin production. So it is okay if the eye color changes in children, but if adult human eyes dramatically change color is a reason to seek medical attention. Such changes can be a symptom of some eye diseases, such as iridocyclitis, Horner's syndrome or pigmentary glaucoma.
