The easiest way to find the root of a number if there is a calculator. Preferably engineering – one in which there is a button with the sign of the root "√". Typically, the root is enough to dial the number, and then click on the button: "√".

Most modern mobile phones have a calculator app with the function of extracting the root. The procedure for finding a root of a number using the phone calculator similar to that described above.
Example.
To find the square root of 2.
Turn on the calculator (if it is off and then press button two and the square root ("2" "√"). Press the " = " is usually not necessary. The result is the number of type 1,4142 (the number of characters and "roundness" depends on the bit depth and settings of the calculator).
Note: when trying to find the root of a negative number, the calculator typically displays the error message.

If you have access to a computer, then find the root of a number is very simple.
1. You can use the application "Calculator", available on almost any computer. For Windows XP this program can be run as follows:
"Start" - "All programs" - "accessories" - "Calculator".
Is better set to "normal". By the way, unlike a real calculator button to retrieve the root labeled as "sqrt" and not a "√".

If you get to the calculator by the specified method fails, then you can run the standard calculator "by hand":
Start - > Run - > "calc".
2. For finding root of a number you can also use some programs installed on the computer. In addition, many programs have their own built-in calculator.

For example, to MS Excel, you can do the following sequence of actions:
Run MS Excel.

Written to any cell number, from which to extract the root.

Put the cell pointer to another place

Push a button on the function (fx)

Choose the option "ROOT"

As an argument to a function specify the cell number

Click "OK" or "Enter"
The advantage of this method is that it is now sufficient to enter the cell with the number to any value, as in the cell with the function immediately there is a response.
Note.
There are several other more exotic ways to find the root of a number. For example, "area", using slide rule or tables Bradis. However, in this article, these methods are not considered due to their complexity and practical futility.
