How to restore Windows Explorer

Perform the simultaneous pressing function keys Ctrl+Alt+Del to run the tool "Windows task Manager" and open the Processes tab in the new dialog box utility.

Determine the presence in the list of multiple running system processes explorer.exe (the existence of such processes confirms the infection of computer viruses), restart the computer in safe mode and run a system scan for malware using an antivirus application.

Run the application and open the AVZ the menu "File" of the top toolbar of the program window. Select "system Restore" and apply the check boxes in the fields "Restore desktop settings" and "Restore Windows Explorer settings".

Confirm the command by pressing the button "to Fulfil the marked operations" and click "control Panel" main menu system. Expand the "add or remove programs" and uninstall all suspicious applications.

Insert the installation disc in the drive and open the menu "File" in the top toolbar of the tool window the "Windows task Manager". Enter the command "New task" to run the tool on "Command prompt" and enter the value sfc /scannow in the text box of the command interpreter.

Again log into the system in safe mode if it is impossible to restore the application "Windows Explorer" and insert the installer CD in the drive. Search the disk for the i386 folder and make a copy of file explorer.ex. Place a copy in the root of drive C:\ and rename it to explorer.exe.

The main menu of the operating system by pressing the "start" button and click "execute" to initiate recovery of the application "Windows Explorer". Type regedit in the Open box, and confirm the tool to start "registry Editor" by pressing the OK button.

Expand the registry branch HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon, and select Shell. Specify the full path to the required explorer.exe and confirm your choice with OK.

Return to utility "task Manager" and open the context menu of the process explorer.exe click the right mouse button. Specify the command to "Complete the process" and open menu "File" in the top toolbar of the window Manager.

Select "New task" and enter a value for cmd in the text box to run the tool on "Command prompt". Confirm the command by pressing the OK button and enter a value of Cd C:\ in the text box of the command interpreter.

Confirm the command by pressing Enter and enter a value copy explorer.exe C:\Windows in the text box the command line. Confirm the command by pressing Enter and enter the value Yes.

Restart the computer to apply the selected changes.
