If you want to install operating system or restore the computer using an external hard disk, select boot from the specified device. Remember that on the USB drive should be a special partition containing the boot files. Otherwise, the equipment will be determined prior to entering into the operating system. Connect external hard drive to the USB port of the computer. It is better not to use the channels located on the front panel. They can only be activated after loading the operating system.

Open the BIOS menu by pressing the right key once turning on the computer. Usually you have to press the Delete (Del) or the Escape (Esc). Navigate to Boot Device Priority menu. It can be located in the Boot menu Options. Locate the First Boot Device, highlight it and press Enter. Install first the USB HDD device. If a point is missing, then go to HDD Mode and select USB-HDD. After performing this procedure, field Internal HDD will move to the second position.

Press the F10 key. It is necessary to save the changes and restart the computer. To open BIOS menu on a mobile computer it is necessary to press other keys. Turn on the laptop and read the inscription located at the bottom of the screen. Press F2 or Esc. In the menu that appears, select Enter the BIOS. Follow the algorithm described in the previous steps.

When working with some models of motherboards you can enable booting from the correct device only for a particular run of the device. Try pressing F8 key after turning on the computer (laptop). If this opens a selection menu devices, select USB-HDD and press Enter.
Useful advice
When creating a bootable hard disk is recommended to split it into sections. This allows you to use part of the space when working in the Windows environment.
