The rolls with raisins and nuts
This is the original cookies made without eggs and milk, but the batter is tasty and crisp. As a filling you can use any nuts or chopped dried fruits.
You will need:
- 200 g of butter;
- 1 Cup sour cream;
- 0.5 cups of sugar;
- 0.5 teaspoon of hydrated soda;
- 4 cups whole wheat flour;
- 0.75 cups seedless raisins;
- 0.75 walnut kernels;
- powdered sugar for sprinkling.
Softened butter RUB with sugar, add sour cream and soda, slaked vinegar or lemon juice. Gradually add the sifted flour and knead the dough. Gather it into a ball, wrap with cling film and refrigerate for 1 hour.
Raisins wash and dry. Shelled walnuts fry in a pan or toast them in the oven, then roughly chop with a knife. Chilled dough roll out on floured Board in a circle. With a sharp knife cut the circle into segments. On a broad side of each segment of the cone, place the raisins and the nuts, turn the blank to form neat rolls and place on the sheet, greased. Bake in the oven preheated to 200oC. The finished cookies remove from cookie sheet, cool on the Board and serve dusted with icing sugar.
Layer cake with jam
This cake needs to cook for 10-12 hours before serving. Dry crumbly cakes should be well saturated with jam.
You will need:
- 3 cups wheat flour;
- 450 g cream margarine or butter;
- 1.5 cups of water;
- a pinch of salt;
- juice of 0.5 lemon;
- 1.5 cups thick sweet jam.
Sift the flour on the Board in the form of slides. Put it on the butter or margarine and blend with a knife in the crumb. Collect oil-flour crumbs, add salt, add the water mixed with the juice of half a lemon. Heavy quickly knead plastic dough. Gather it into a lump, wrap in foil and put it in the fridge.
After half an hour divide the dough into 4 equal parts, each roll in a bun. Again put the dough in the cold, and then alternately roll the balls into flat cakes of the same size. Trays moisten with water, lay them on the dough and bake in the oven preheated to 240оС. Baking each cake will take about 6-7 minutes. The finished product is put on the Board, let cool and spread with jam. Put the cakes on top of each other and let the cake soak. Serve, cut it into small equal pieces. The surface can be sprinkled with candied fruit or sugar beads.
