On most modern motherboards with SATA interface is sure. But if you bought a computer a long time, before starting the connection, you need to check in the presence of her with a SATA interface. This can be done by reviewing the technical documentation for the motherboard.

If the Board doesn't have such interface, it does not mean that you will not be able to connect the drive to your computer. You will just have to buy an adapter SATA to USB.

Remove the cover from the system unit. Look on the motherboard SATA interface. Connect one end of SATA cable to the interface. Drive laptop is too small to insert it in the 5.25 in the PC case. Insert it into the compartment of 3.25. If you are going to use the drive for a long time, it can simply be put near the computer case. Now connect the other end of the cord to a SATA drive, then connect the power. To do this, locate the SATA cable on the PSU.

If you use the adapter, insert it into the USB port on the computer. After that, connect the SATA cable to the drive with the adapter. If the length of the cord adapter is small, you will not be able to insert the drive into the computer. In this case, you need to put it next to the system unit. Also don't forget to plug the power. Disadvantage of this method is that you will not be able to close the lid of the system unit. So be extremely careful.
