Avoid formulaic phrases. There is nothing worse than to start with hackneyed expressions that will not only attract attention but also can negatively affect the respect to the whole composition. Come up with something original, bright and motivate a call, profound saying, a little announcement.

Be brief. Only two or three sentences, no lengthy explanations and recesses in the subject. Your task is to attract attention.

Start with the question. To the reader can be formulated in the form of a question: "are you aware...", "did you Know...", "have You ever heard..." etc. Is a universal way to interest, to enter into the course theme of writing and to throw some food for thought.

Make introduction-definition. Try to start with approval. Give historic facts. If your essay is a meditation on the eternal themes or the analysis of modern conditions, it is advisable to begin with a brief historical reference. It is a common beginning of the essays, which contain many works.

Make the beginning of the entry of analytical. Try to briefly and succinctly explain the essence of the narrative and describe the contents – is the beginning will require effort and analysis. This is the most difficult option, but it is valued above the other, as evidence of your ability to focus on the Essentials.
