Configure the basic settings of your laptop battery. To do this go to "start" then "control Panel" and go to "power supply". Note the side tabs in the window of "power Options": they can adjust the power scheme, warning signals battery status, sleep mode for saving energy and much more.

Go to the tab "power Schemes". By default computer is set to turn off monitor and hard drive after every 15 minutes of inactivity. You need to think if it fits you. It all depends on how long you will leave the workplace during the day. This will help keep the battery and its "vitality" for a longer period, so definitely no need to set this parameter to the value "Never".

Configure tab sound alerts which must notify on low battery. For example, by default, the computer issues an audible message when the charge drops to 13%, and will automatically enter standby mode upon reaching 4%. Be sure to specify desired parameters in order to prevent unexpected shutdown of laptop, if you forget to charge it in time.

Open the settings tab the system performance. Here you will see 3 options for the distribution of electricity: "Balanced", "High performance" and "energy Saving". Select a suitable, depending on the intensity of use of the laptop. Also here you can set a few additional options to configure power supply. If you want to your computer asked for a username and password, when it goes out of power saving mode, it is possible to fill in the appropriate fields. You can also change the icon display of food on the taskbar, so you can see how much battery charge you have left.
