How to extract precious metals from the radio

Take the gold-covered brass and copper networks. Make a solution of hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid (1 liter of sulfuric acid with density of 1.8 g/cm3 and 250 ml of hydrochloric acid density of 1.19 g/cm3). Heat the solution to a temperature of 60-70 degrees Celsius. Dip it in detail. Add a small amount of nitric acid. Received "Aqua Regia" to dissolve gold.

In the absence of nitric acid, remove gold plating anodic dissolution in sulfuric or hydrochloric acid at a temperature of from 15 to 25 degrees Celsius. The current strength should be about 0.1–1 A/dm2, and the cathode should be of lead or iron. I see that the amperage has fallen - the gold dissolved.

Platinum extract with nitric acid. Toss it in platinum radio. The precious metal will precipitate. Drain the acid into another container. The residue neutralize with solution of baking soda. Similarly, you can extract the gold.

Remove the silver. Take copper or brass radio parts, in which the silver deposited on the housing or contacts. Make a mixture of sulfuric and nitric acids (in the ratio of 19 to 1,2). Heat the mixture to 80 degrees. From this solution, extract the silver by the recovery of similar amounts of zinc shavings or dust.

Note the silver content in some electronic components. Silver in large enough quantities contained in capacitors. For example, in K15-5 contains 29,901 gr. and K10-7 содержится13,652 gr. silver (calculation is per 1000 pieces). You can also take almost any radio in Soviet times, they also contains silver in sufficient quantities.

Remove the silver from the relay. In them it is contained in pure form. For example, in РЭС6 - 157 gr. silver and РСЧ52 its content is 688 gr. in RVM, the share of semi-precious metal - 897,4 g. (data are presented per 1,000 pieces).

And the last one. As you can see, precious metals are mainly extracted with different acids. To work with acids should be very careful in the observance of all safety rules. Remember, acid is dangerous not only in contact with the skin, burns can be obtained even by inhalation of its vapors. Take care of yourself!
