Instruction
1
If your computer has one disk, it usually has the letter C. This is convenient as by default it is on the disc is the operating system. To change that letter should not, you can get a broken system or you will encounter problems when you run already installed programs.
2
The letters of all other drives can be changed. To change, open "start" - "control Panel" - "administrative tools" - "computer Management". In the left column of the window that opens select "disk Management".
3
In the opened window you will see a list of drives and their graphical representation. Click the desired drive, right-click and select the context menu item "Change drive letter or drive path". In the new window, choose to drive any available drive letter and save the changes.
4
In that case, if you for example want to rename the F drive to D, but this letter is already belongs to another disk, rename the D drive to any other, and the vacant drive letter assign drive F.
5
Not only can you change the drive letter, but its name is displayed in "Explorer". Open "My computer", click any drive, right-click and select "Rename". So, if the selected disk you are game, you can name it "Games" or Game. If it's a data disc, that is fine, such as "Data" or "Files". You can present drives: "Photo", "Music", "Software", "Archive" etc.
6
Some users create a separate partition where you save all files, outdated, but still capable of useful in some situations. The name of this disc is adequate: "Dump", "Miscellaneous", "oldest files", "Scrap" etc – in this case, everything depends on the imagination of the user. The change of name of a disk does not change the letters.
7
Even if you have a computer with just one physical disk, it is recommended to divide it into several logical. Select the disk With fairly small amount – for example, 50 GB. This will be enough for the operating system and installed programs. All other files store on other sections, this will significantly increase their safety. Even better, if your system has two or more physical hard disk duplicating important information, you will minimize the risk of its loss.
