1
Determine which kind of lumber you need. Consider them in different ways. The cost is influenced by some other factors – the species of wood, degree of processing (boards can be edged or unedged), grade, length. Short boards are cheaper long. The lumber has its own standards before purchase is very helpful to read them. Do not hesitate to ask the shop price list.
2
One of the types of wood, which often requires gardeners – slab. It should be graded depending on the length. One group includes business slab over a length of 2 m, the other – in short this length.
3
Lay the slabs in a pile. Fold it so that the thick part of one of the trunk side by side on both sides comly others. The planks are stacked in pairs, adjoining flat portions. Convex surface "look" up and down. The stack must be very dense and have right angles.
4
Measure the length, width and height of the pile. For lumber there are two types of cubic meters – stacked and tight. Dense represents, for example, a cube made from a single piece of wood. Thus it is possible to measure, for example, the amount of smooth boards. In the case of drum you are dealing with a stacked cubic meter.
5
The ratio of lumber in stock and dense cubic yards, it is very important for cost calculation. So the buyer had to pay for the share meter as dense, has a special conversion factors that ranged from 0.43 for long debarked slabs to 0.56 for a short debarked.
6
The volume of all the other lumber can be determined by direct measurements of each Board or each log. If the boards are piled in a dense rectangular stack, you measure its length, width and height. Multiplying these parameters, you will receive a volume. To log important parameters are the length and diameter of the saw cut. Cut down barrel with some degree of approximation can be taken as a cylinder. The basis is provided by the upper end. Some features of the calculation of the volume of unedged boards. For the width is taken the arithmetic average of both plasma (i.e. flat surfaces).
