When you are dealing with a corrupted hard drive that is not determined by the operating system, you must use special utilities. In this case, you'll need to start your computer in DOS mode. Download from the website http://www.pcinspector.de/default.htm the program PC Inspector. It is free, so you will not have any problems activating it.

Create a bootable disk or USB drive, to be able to run the program before entering the operating system. You can use a utility such as Dr. Web LiveUSB, adding to it the program you need. Insert the DVD into the drive or plug the flash drive into a USB port. Turn on computer and hold F8.

Select the device in the opened boot menu. Run the program PC Inspector. Select the desired item in the menu a quick run. Considering the fact that you are working with a corrupted hard drive, better use the Find parameter Logical Drive, which is located in the section Find Lost Drive. This will allow you to extract information from a lost disk partition.

Wait for the scan of the hard drive. Select the section you want. In this case, you must rely on the size of the previously existing volumes. After you restore partition, you can run the Windows operating system and continue to work with the hard drive.

If you need to recover lost files, then open the menu, Select Local Drive, located in box Recover deleted files. Select the desired partition and click Scan Drive. After some time, you will be presented with a list of files that can be recovered. Save them using another hard disk partition.
