Advice 1: How to configure networking with two network cards

The reasons for using two or more network interfaces may be different. One of the most common uses of the two network cards – the connection of two networks via a network bridge.
How to configure networking with two network cards
You will need
  • computer;
  • - two network cards.
Instruction
1
You now have a need to connect two networks. For example, the core network connected to the Internet, to connect additional subnet. To implement this capability, you can use a switch or a computer with two network cards.
2
Determine which of the available network connections to which network is connected. For example, "local area Connection" is connected to the network 1, and "local area Connection 2" is connected to the network 2. Alternately, configure and test the connections.
3
If the core network runs a DHCP server, then configure the "LAN Connection" should be left unchanged. In this case, the IP address will be assigned automatically. If the DHCP server is absent, then fill in the required fields of the configuration manually. Verify the health of the connection. Menu "start – Run - cmd". In the window that appears, run the command: ipconfig. The result will see the assigned IP address, subnet mask, gateway and DNS server.
An example of an ipconfig command.
4
Disable "local area Connection" and let us configure the "LAN Connection 2". As an experiment, use static addresses. For example: the IP address (192.168.0.15), subnet mask (255.255.255.0), gateway (192.168.0.1). On the "local area Connection 2" click the right mouse button and select "properties". Stand on the "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" and click "properties". In the window that appears, select "Use the following IP address:", enter our configuration and confirm with ğokğ. Then test the connection.
5
Activate both connections and select them. Open the context menu and select "bridge Connection". Wait for the end of the configuration process. Open the properties of the created network bridge, select the "Internet Protocol TCP/IP" and enter the configuration data from "Step 4", but the IP-address specify the next free, in our case is 192.168.0.16. Confirm the configuration with "OK" button. As a result, you get two networks connected via two network cards.

Advice 2: How to configure the network through the switch

When you build your own local network it is necessary to consider some nuances. Of course, if you want to connect network computers to the Internet, additional equipment is necessary.
How to configure the network through the switch
You will need
  • switch;
  • - network cables.
Instruction
1
Purchase a network hub (switch). This equipment will need to combine all computers into a single network. Remember that you can connect and laptops. Now select a sufficiently powerful computer that will be connected to the Internet. Purchase a network card and install it on your chosen PC.
2
Install the drivers for this network card. Now, connect all computers and other devices with network hub. Connect this equipment to the mains. With the PC you have chosen to carry out the functions of the router, go to the Internet.
3
Configure the connection to the Internet, creating a new connection and entering the desired data. Be sure to check that it is working. Now open the menu containing the list of active networks on this computer. Go to properties of the network adapter that is connected to the switch. Open the settings of the Internet Protocol TCP/IP.
4
Activate the option "Use the following IP address". Set the value of a static (permanent) IP address equal to 101.124.124.1. Save settings this menu. Open the properties of your Internet connection and go to the tab "Access". Find and activate the function that allows other network users to use this Internet connection.
5
At this stage you have finished configuring the first PC. Now open the properties of the network adapters of other computers. In this case we are talking about network cards connected with a hub. Run the following configure TCP/IP:
- 101.124.124.X – IP-address
- 255.0.0.0 – subnet Mask
- 101.124.124.1 – default gateway
- 101.124.124.1 – DNS servers.
Note that the parameter X must be greater than one, but less than 250. Save the settings and reboot all computers. Constantly make sure that the Internet access of the first PC was active.
