The geographical position of Belgorod
The centre of the Belgorod region is situated on the right Bank of the river Northern Donets, the tributary of the don, and in the South the so-called upland, which extends from the Oka to the South of the Donets ridge.
Because of its geographical location Belgorod is much closer to the border with Ukraine (about 40 km) than, for example, to the Russian capital. The distance from Moscow to Belgorod is about 700 kilometers.
Belgorod is not among the cities, since, according to the latest data from 2013, its population is a little over 373,5 thousand people. This is mainly ethnic Russians and Ukrainians.
North of Belgorod region borders with more populous Kursk oblast with the population of the administrative center in 428,7 thousand people, and from the South and West – with the Voronezh oblast, Central city which refers to one million (1,003 million inhabitants, according to last year). The Western part of the Belgorod region bordering Ukraine and through the territory of the region Russia will be visited by most of the citizens of a neighboring country, is ready to live and work in our country or arriving as tourists.
How to get to Belgorod from Moscow and St. Petersburg
To drive to Belgorod from Moscow in several ways. So, every day from Kursky railway station of the capital sent a special train No. 291, as well as many others, going through the capital of Belgorod region and following from Moscow to Donetsk, Evpatoria, Simferopol, Kharkov, Kiev, Sevastopol, Kerch and other cities.
Belgorod oblast has its own namesake with the town the airport which connect with Moscow regular flights with an average flight time of one and a half hours.
The average length of travel to Belgorod by car may reach 7-9 or more hours, depending on traffic and the highway. Geographically the city is located to the South of Moscow region and you can reach it in several ways – on the route M2 ("Crimea"), M4 or well-equipped Kiev highway.
The distance between Belgorod and North of the capital, about 1,370 kilometers. From the Moscow station in Saint Petersburg to the capital of the Belgorod region direct trains No. 279 and No. 081, and passing flights to Feodosiya, Kerch, Simferopol, Sevastopol, Donetsk and Yalta.
Road links between the two cities is via the M10 highway and the highway "Crimea", as well as through M10. The duration of the trip by car will be about 16-18 hours.
