The advantages of this material are:• low cost (much lower compared to the wooden boards, plywood);
• wide range of applications;
• the possibility of recycling waste from woodworking;
• the ease of manufacture of various components, in particular for furniture;
• durability (in accordance with standards of operation).
Disadvantages of DSP one of the most significant is the use in its manufacture of adhesives based on phenol-formaldehyde resins. In the process of operation of products made of this material, the influence of the fumes of these resins on living organisms can vary depending on the ambient temperature, humidity, methods of coating or painting the product, but not completely removed.
However, the main advantage of particle Board (low price) usually takes precedence when choosing a material. Especially since there are ways to significantly improve the material, to reduce the harm to minimum. One of them is the processing and staining of surfaces.

It is important to consider that the better and better the carried-out work for cutting sheets of chipboard, the less will be the effort spent on correcting the flaws in the final finish. Therefore, when cutting the sheet of chipboard to make the edge less burrs and notches, the cutting stick adhesive tape. For cutting, use a saw with fine teeth and put her with a smaller angle to the surface, don't do too much pressing. The resulting edge will clean up with emery cloth. Apply the putty, allow it to dry, sand smooth and cover with the second layer. If after sanding you can see the defects (sinks, chips etc.) re-apply the layer of putty and sand it. On the prepared surface apply the paint. Color select such that it was combined with the main color of the product. Instead of staining, you can use the tape for gluing the edges of parts made of chipboard. Attach it sticky side to the polished edge (removing dust). Then smooth the tape hot iron. Another processing method is: the strip of wood veneer or plastic stock to size and glue to the edge.

Similarly, you paint (coating) the surface of parts made of chipboard. Surface abrade with emery cloth, putty knife, apply a layer of putty, let it dry and sand smooth. Apply a second layer of putty, after drying and grinding, cover with a layer of varnish or paint. The varnish (paint) it is desirable to put in two or three layers. In addition, the surface of a particleboard it is possible to coat self-adhesive tape or plastic that is attached to the adhesive. It is important to carefully smooth the surface to remove from under the veneer of air bubbles.
