How to draw a floor plan

Take a sheet of paper in a cage, a sheet of graph paper. Determine what scale you will draw the room on the plan. For example, to depict a room of length 5 m sheet of A4, will be a convenient scale of 1:20. In this case, 5 cm on the plan will fit 1 m real value of the premises. You can choose a convenient scale image based on the size of your room.

With a tape measure the length of walls, ledges and niches in the room. If the room has decorative elements in the form of arches or columns, you can also determine the distance to them from the walls of the room. The results of measurements record in a notebook or just a sheet of paper.

On a prepared sheet of paper draw the outline of the room, after transferring them to your chosen scale. To check the correctness of their measurements fold the length of the different parts and check that the result with the total length of the wall.

After application to the plan contours of the room, mark on the plan the location of doors, Windows, radiators, water pipes, electrical outlets and switches. For doors, indicate on the plan the amplitude (p-p), on which the door swings when opened. If necessary, mark on the plan of the architectural details present in the room: in the basement, alcove, arch, podium, etc.

If you make a floor plan for the subsequent arrangement of furniture, it is useful to specify in the Annex to the plan the height of the ceiling, the orientation of the Windows on the sides of the horizon (this will help identify the Sunny side of the building). If you wish, you can specify the type, material and finish color of the room, using markers or colored pencils.

In conclusion, you can put on a floor plan of existing furniture and interior. Much easier to draw them on the plan, and cut the outlines out of the paper in accordance with the scale and impose on the layout of the room. By moving these objects on the plan, you can choose the most suitable design space in accordance with their tastes.
