You will need
- - chemical utensils;
- - copper oxide (II);
- - zinc;
- - hydrochloric acid;
- - alcohol stove;
- - muffle furnace.
Instruction
1
Copper from oxide you will be able to recover the hydrogen. First follow safety precautions when working with heating devices, as well as with acids and combustible gases. Write equations of reactions: - interaction of zinc and hydrochloric acid Zn + 2HCl = ZnCl2 + H2;- recovery of copper by hydrogen CuO + H2 = Cu + H2O.
2
Before conducting the experience, prepare for it equipment, both reactions should go hand in hand. Take two tripod. One of them will secure a clean and dry test tube for oxide of copper, and the other vial with vapor tube, which will put a few pieces of zinc. Light the spirit lamp.
3
Pour the black powder of copper in cooked dishes. Immediately pour the zinc with acid. A gas outlet pipe channel to the oxide. Remember that the reaction takes place only when heated. So bring the flame of a spirit lamp to the bottom of the tube with CuO. All try to do fast enough, as the zinc with the acid interacts rapidly.
4
Even copper can restore carbon. Write down the equation of the reaction:2CuO + C = 2Cu + СО2Возьмите powder of copper(II) and dry it on the fire in an open porcelain Cup (the powder should be black). Then, pour the obtained reagent in a porcelain crucible and add fine charcoal (coke) at the rate of 10 parts CuO to 1 part coke. All carefully mash with the pestle. Tightly close the lid to the reaction evaporated the resulting carbon dioxide and place in a muffle furnace with a temperature of about 1000 degrees Celsius.
5
After the reaction is over, the crucible cool, and the contents fill with water. Then stir the resulting suspension, and you will see how light particles of coal are detached from a heavy reddish balls. Remove the resulting metal. Later, if you want, you can try rafting in the oven beads of copper between them.
Useful advice
Before you heat the bottom of the tube with copper oxide, heat it entirely. This will help to avoid cracks on the glass.
