Instruction
1
Do not attempt to choose a fish based on its size. Whatever you say, in nature there is no pattern in females and males of pink salmon. There are variances in the one and in the other direction. Although females rarely reach extremely large sizes. Their weight is usually closer to an average of 1.2 – 1.8 kg. But the males can be very large, and very modest sizes.
2
Note on the coloration of fish. As usual in nature, the males are brighter than females. The male salmon has brighter coloring, and the scales of females are usually inconspicuous, greyish, with a less pronounced color transitions.
3
When put next to the male and female can be seen that the shape of the body of the male is more predatory, tough, stronger carcass is stretched, and on the back very often, there is a noticeable hump. This build-up, and gave the name to the species. The contours of the female body smooth, rounded.
4
Carefully compare the fish in the store is rarely possible, because commercially available, usually frozen fish, frozen or frozen with ice.
5
Carefully inspect the head of the selected fish. Males are forced to fight for the female during spawning, so the head of the male looks more predatory. Due to the evolution of males of pink salmon acquired a long curved jaws and large teeth. Head females short, round jaws smooth and not bent up as much as in the male. The nose of the female, compared to the nose of the male, seems stupid.
6
In addition to the head, note the tail fin. The tail of the male seems shorter because it is almost smooth. Rear fin of the female is more extended in length because it requires high maneuverability during the spawning period.
7
If you look at the pink side of the muzzle, it can be noted that the torso of the male is flatter. Sides and back females seem to be better fed.
Note
Please note that catches of pink salmon begins in June and lasts until September. Therefore, if you in APR offer fresh fish, don't believe. This instance has been frozen no less than seven months.
