Cyprus: a brief overview
On the island of Cyprus actually are two States: the Republic of Cyprus and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. The first is populated mainly by Greeks and is approximately 60% of the total area of the island. The second state is not recognized by other countries, except for Abkhazia and Turkey. It is located in the North-Eastern part of the island, it was inhabited mainly by Turks. The main tourist resorts situated in the South-Western part of the island.
