Signs of diseases of cats
The first sign that the cat started being sick is her desire to hide somewhere far away, hide in a dark corner, not to appear on people's eyes. Usually sociable and friendly Pets during illness are unable to communicate with the person. This is because in nature wild animals to hurt unprofitable – weakened body can't deal with enemies, and any higher animal can use the disease. So, falling sick, members of the genus feline, hide and try not to be seen by anyone. This instinct remains and domestic cats, although they don't have to hide from other predators. However, they do not like it when during the illness, looking at them, and especially touching, stroking.
You do not always have to forcibly get a cat out of her hiding place and surrounded by too much attention. Make sure that she chose a warm and comfortable area or move it to another dark and quiet place.
Diseased cat becomes lethargic and sleeps a lot, not playing, not running. During sleep the body recovers faster animals, so during the illness they spend most of the time sleepy. But in certain diseases of cats, on the contrary, become too excited, aggressive, restless.
Loss of appetite is one of the most pronounced symptoms of the disease, sometimes cats refuse and water. The disease makes the animal weak and disrupts the coordination of movements, so the pet can be awkward, it's hard to jump on a chair or a window.
Signs of intestinal infections and diseases of the gastrointestinal tract is vomiting and diarrhea. If cats are not in the order of kidney, it rarely goes to the toilet, and the urine there is blood. Kidney disease, or diabetes can often force the pet to drink. Profuse salivation, coughing, discharge from the eyes, strange posture, shortness of breath can also be symptoms of various diseases.
What if the cat got sick
If you find one or more of the above symptoms, first examine the cat and measure her heart rate, temperature and monitor the breathing. The normal heart rate to 150 beats per minute (kittens up to 200), respiratory rate is 30 strokes per minute, the temperature is 38-39 degrees. If all indicators are normal and the animal's condition does not deteriorate, it is possible to observe – perhaps it is a small stomach upset, which will take place in a few hours. Otherwise, you need to take the cat to the vet, but if this is not possible, call a doctor or at least get a consultation.
Do not do self-treatment of cats, if you do not have veterinary education. Only a doctor can accurately determine the illness and prescribe an appropriate treatment.
During sick cats often eat poorly, they should not force-feed, but it is important to give enough water. Dehydration often accompanies certain diseases and can be very dangerous for the life of the animal. If the cat refuses to drink, and her continual vomiting, you need regular injections or drips with a nutrient solution.
If the cat prescribed medications, you need to mix the pill in food or grease them with butter. Liquid medication is poured into the throat using a syringe without a needle.
