Indications for "Drotaverine"
"Drotaverine" is used for spasms of smooth muscles of different origin. The drug affects the cells of the smooth muscle tissue of the urogenital, digestive and cardiovascular systems. "Drotaverine" is prescribed to eliminate the spasm and pain of spastic character with cholecystitis, ulcerative lesions of the gastrointestinal tract, the etiology of spastic constipation, spastic colitis, intestinal colic at a delay of gases. It is used to relieve spasms in pyelitis, proctitis, cystitis, nephrolithiasis and ureterolithiasis. "Drotaverine" prescribed for algomenorrhea, to eliminate spasm of the uterus during pregnancy, prolonged disclosure pharynx uterus, spasm of the OS uteri during the postpartum contractions.
"Drotaverine" is also prescribed as a vasodilator for vascular spasm headaches caused by vasospasm.
Instructions for use "Drotaverine"
"Drotaverine" is taken orally regardless of the meal, not chewing and drinking water. The duration of treatment and dose the doctor must determine individually. When the pain of spastic character of adults and children aged twelve years and is usually administered two or three times a day for 40-80 mg (1-2 tablets) of the drug "Drotaverin". Children under 12 years the dose is also determined by the physician. Often administered 20 mg of the drug (0.5 tablets) one to two times a day to children ranging in age from six to twelve years. "Drotaverine" usually well tolerated, but may develop nausea, vomiting, stool disorders, disorders of sleep, headache, fainting, tachycardia, arrhythmia, decreased blood pressure, bronchospasm, swelling of the nasal mucosa, allergic reactions. The drug is contraindicated in severe hypersensitivity to components of drug, with severe hypotension, severe heart failure, cardiogenic shock, renal, liver failure.
The drug is prescribed with caution to women during pregnancy and breastfeeding. "Drotaverine" do not appoint patients, whose work is directly connected with the car control or complex mechanisms. If necessary, the drug is required to refrain from performing similar work within the hour. "Drotaverine" is prescribed during pregnancy only if the usefulness of the drug for the mother higher than the possible risk to the unborn child.
