Advice 1: In Open Office the page numbering in

OpenOffice is one of the few office applications, which has an open code, i.e. it is absolutely free. This program is similar to the well known text editor Microsoft Office Word. Sometimes the documents need to assign each page a sequence number that can be easily done using this tool.

Open the program by double-clicking the left mouse button on the program's shortcut on the desktop or click the start menu, under All programs, select OpenOffice.

To open any text document, click the top menu "File" select "Open". In the opened window specify the path to the file and press Enter.

Depending on which part of the document you want to display numbering (top or bottom), you should choose the appropriate value of the header (top or bottom). Click the menu "Insert" and browse to your document type header.

Press the left mouse button on the field header, click the menu "Insert", select "Fields", select "page Number".

In the window "Edit field", you can assign the displayed header and footer (page numbering). If you want to change the format of pages, for example, to change Arabic numerals to Roman, and double-click the left mouse button on "page Numbers" and select the appropriate value. Click "OK" to close this window.

To change the style of page numbers (to specify the font, highlighting color, etc.), highlight the value of the header or footer on the first page and use the formatting toolbar.

Some documents begin with a title page, the numbering of which is strictly prohibited. To cancel the display of the footer on the first page, place the cursor on the first or footer, click menu "Format" and select "Styles".

In the opened window click the "page Styles" (image double page) and double click on the line "First page".

Re-test any numbering on the title page: if not, therefore, the cursor wasn't set in box in the footer of the first page. Retry the operation again by clicking on the header of the title page. Now you only have to save the document clicking the "File" menu and clicking "Save".

Advice 2 : How to number pages in Open Office

Office Suite OpenOffice.org like other software of similar purpose, allows you to automatically number pages. This numbering will then be visible when viewing the document on the screen and in the plot.

Type and save text in the package OpenOffice.org either open the finished document.

Depending on exactly where you want to place the page numbers (at the top or bottom of the page), select the menu "View" item "header" or "footer". In the appeared submenu, select "Normal".

The header and footer (top or bottom, depending on your choice) appears on all pages of the document. Move the cursor in the header and footer area on any page. Click the left align, centre or right alignment, depending on which side of the sheet you want to place the page numbers.

Select menu, items: "Insert", "Field", "page Number". On all pages of the document will appear in their numbers. Select any of them and choose the font, size, style (bold, italic, underline), if desired, apply a variety of effects. All you will do with the number any of the pages, will automatically affect the others.

In some documents taken not to put the page number on the cover. Page following the cover, you still should have a number 2. To achieve this, move the cursor to the field header of the first page and click: "Format", "Styles", "Catalogue". A window will appear in the upper drop-down menu, select "page Styles". Save the document and optionally print it. Note that if the same document is then open in OpenOffice.org and in another software package (Google Docs, Microsoft Office, etc.), distribution of text on the pages, their number and the numbering may not match. The probability of this is greatly reduced using the latest versions OpenOffice.org.
