How to draw drapery

To create a figure with drapery, you need to be able to focus on the main lines, depressions and crevices. The word drape means it folds, i.e. the images of the fabrics in the free state. To learn this art is not so difficult, if you take into account some aspects.

You will need

A4 drawing paper, pencils of different softness, eraser and tissue.

Instruction

First, position the fabric as you like or in the way you will be able to perform its drawing.

Draw a straight line in the middle of the sheet and divide it in half. Mentally label the contours of your future drawing drapery.

Make a sketch of the main lines, which is most clearly visible on the fabric and also mark the shadow areas, filling them with a pencil.

Using a pencil, spend a few additional lines with which to build the future pattern draping. It could be the points and dotted lines.

Draw a drop shadow in the foreground. Filling, don't forget to display the shadow of your draperies.

At the last stage of draw draperies , you should paint over the background. Use less dark tone, to draw attention to the front.

Note

Do not try to draw all the folds without exception, you can easily get lost. Small details pay less attention than exposed lines.

Useful advice
