"Event log" you can view the applet using the "event Viewer". To run this application, you need to open "start menu", then choose "control Panel". In the opened window click on "administrative tools" and select from the list the appropriate application. Also this program can be done via the applet "Execute": press the key combination Win + R, type eventvwr.msc and press Enter.

All events that occur in the operating system can be divided into system and software. After you run this applet you can see 2 categories: application logs, and Windows journal. In each of these categories there are event files, i.e. log files. They are located at the following location: %System directory%System32\Winevt\Logs. Instead of the system folder you need to put the path C:/Windows or the other.

To open log files with a text editor, as well as through the applet itself "event Viewer". To do this, open the top menu "Action" and select "Open saved log". In the opened window locate the file, highlight it and click "Open".

Here you can create a new directory where you will put the required log files. Click "new folder" and enter the folder name in the empty field "Name". Click OK to create the directory and close the current window. The future location of the new directory — section "Saved logs".

To open the log file with a text editor, you must go to the directory, select the file and press the right mouse button on a text document with the extension log. In the context menu click "Open with" and select any text editor, such as Notepad or WordPad.
