Call the main system menu by pressing the button "start" to implement procedures for disabling the CD DVD drive and click "control Panel". Open the "administrative tools" link and expand "computer Management".

Select "device Manager" and click on "DVD / CD-ROM drives" dialog box. Open the context menu to be disable a device by right-clicking the mouse and enter the command "Disable".

Return to the main system menu "start" to disable autorun on selected drive and navigate to the Run dialog. Enter the value in gpedit.msc in the Open box, and confirm the utility starts by pressing the OK button.

Open the link to "computer Configuration" in the editor window, and then expand Administrative templates. Go to "System" and select the policy "Disable autorun".

Specify the subject to disable the device in the directory and use the value gpupdate at the console to apply the changes.

Use the "registry Editor" to change the necessary parameters of the drive. For this again go back to the Run dialog and enter regedit in the Open box. Confirm the utility starts by pressing the OK button and expand the branch

Create a new subkey named Explorer and in it create a new parameter named NoDriveTypeAutoRun. Use the value 0х20 to disable autorun CD and DVD drive or enter a value 0хFF to ban all disks (for Windows XP).

Change the value of the parameter AutoRun in the branch HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\CDrom to 0 in Windows 7/Vista and use FF for the value of the NoDriveTypeAutoRun registry entry (for Windows Vista/7).
