To determine the caloric content of milk, first you need to know its fat content. The percentage of fat in milk varies depending on the time of year, supply and maintenance of cow and breed of the animal. The fat content varies widely during the first yield and at the end of the milking period. In the first four or five months the percentage of fat the milk is kept at the same level, accounting for approximately 3.5–4%, and then begins to grow rapidly, sometimes reaching 6%. Autumn and winter milk typically has more fat.

If you buy milk at the store, its fat content must be written on the price tag, and on the package itself. Depending on the company, which produces milk, the calorie content even in the product with the same fat content may differ, but this difference is not so big and is a few units. Thus, one hundred grams of 1,5% milk contains 47 calories in milk 3.2% fat – 60, 3.5% – 64 calories. Concentrated milk with a fat content of 7.5% contains a hundred grams 140 calories.

Most low-calorie product is skim milk. To get from whole milk to separate the cream, and further it is used as a standalone product, and the production of dairy treats. One hundred grams of skim milk contains only 31 calories.

If you purchase flavoured milk, its caloric content can vary from calorie regular milk with a similar fat content. Carefully read the packaging the manufacturer had to note the number of calories contained in one hundred grams of beverage.
