Give golde product for examination. In fact, this is the single most reliable way of checking. All other relative and give an inaccurate result.

Don't buy gold in the markets and in stalls, the likelihood to acquire counterfeit in such places above. In addition, you will be difficult to get your money back if after purchase examination will define forgery.

Find a specialized jeweler, which cooperates with Russian and foreign manufacturers of gold jewelry and buy gold there. Be careful when buying. Find impression of trials and mark of the manufacturer. Inspect the gold product, it should be equally well treated on all sides.

At home means of verification. Sprinkle on the surface of the gold jewelry a little bit of iodine. Wait three minutes and wipe off the iodine with a cloth. On the surface of this gold will not remain a trace.

Check with a magnet: it will not be able to attract gold. Note that this is a very rough way: bronze, copper, and aluminium, also not magnetic, but they are much lighter than gold. If you have real gold of the same weight as the fact, the authenticity of which you want to install, then you can check it by comparing the weight.

Put the gold item in vinegar (the concentration is not important, it can be like 3% and 9%). Wait and see, will not darken the product. If that happens, then gold is fake.

Purchase at the pharmacy lapis pencil (it is used to stop the bleeding). Soak the gold water and draw with a pencil a small strip. If the metal will remain dark spots, then the gold isn't real.

Take the gold of the same carat, the authenticity of which you have no doubt, surely you have that. Compare both products visually. Draw a solid, yet pliable material of the first strip with one product, then another. Compare the prints - they must be identical (this method will not work if you have a gold standard, as then the prints will be different).
