The vertical distance between two lines in the text is called line spacing or line spacing. By default, Microsoft Office Word documents is set to "Single". Depending on the style of the text between the lines of one paragraph may apply single line spacing, and between two different paragraphs – one and a half or double. All these parameters are configured.
To set the desired interval between lines in the text, it is necessary to call the dialog box "Paragraph". This can be done in several ways. Click the Home tab, select the text (or text fragment) in which you want to change the interval. Under "Indentation" click the arrow button (located in the lower right corner of the panel Paragraph). Another way: select the text and click right mouse button, in context menu select "Paragraph".
In the dialog, go to tab "Indents and spacing". In the "Interval" and the section "Line spacing" select the desired value using the drop-down list: single, 1.5 lines, double, exactly or a multiplier. If you chose one of the last two values that you specify in the field to the right of the interval size in points or a numeric value for the multiplier. Click OK to your chosen settings were applied to the selected text (text).
For the interval between the letters used other designations. The interval can be normal, unloaded and compacted. If you want to change the spacing between letters in a word, call the dialog box "Font". You can open it from the tab "Home" from the "Font" by clicking the arrow button. Also the window is opened via the right mouse button when selecting from the drop-down menu "Font".
In the opened window, go to "Interval" in the same group select from the drop down list the desired value and click OK. The interval must be set pre-selected text. If you haven't started entering, place the cursor at the beginning of the first line of the document, set all the options you want, and begin typing without moving the cursor to any position.
