What does the word "liberal"


The words "liberal" and "liberal" comes from liberalis, the Latin and literally means "pertaining to freedom". When we are talking about liberal as a supporter of a political movement, it is assumed that the man standing on the platform that welcomes the deepening and development of political freedoms in the broadest sense of the word. Generally, liberal ideology unites supporters of democratic parliamentarism, as well as those who stand for the freedom of private entrepreneurial activity.

In everyday life, the label "liberal" is often given to those who show unnecessary and undue tolerance of other people's behavior that violates the generally accepted norms and rules. It is believed, for example, that excessive liberalism in education of the younger generation negatively affects the personality of a teenager. Often members of the public demand to do away with the liberalism of the authorities against the offenders and the worst offenders of social norms.

Liberalism in politics



Who can be attributed to liberals in the field of political activities? We are talking about public figures who support and fully endorse the idea of limiting any interference of state structures in social relations. The main principles of a liberal system of values formed in those days, when the society was born and matured bourgeois relations based on free enterprise.

Liberal highest priority in public and political life considers the personal, economic and political freedom. The rights of the citizen and his freedom for a liberal to be a basis and starting point for the formation of a political position. According to politicians of the liberal persuasion, that the free development of all social relations allows to build a truly democratic state.

The ideal of many Western politicians it becomes a liberal democracy. However, it is today little remains of the old free thought and dissent. The emphasis of Western liberal-Democrats do not so much on the expansion of real freedoms of citizens, as on the removal of restrictions hindering the development of private enterprise. Political scientists and sociologists have noted that the tradition of Western liberalism all penetrate deep into the Economics, politics and culture of developing countries.
