First, we examine the process of transition to a sleep mode on Windows XP. Note that to enable sleep modeand on the system disk of your computer should be free at least ten percent of the space, otherwise you cannot use this option, you can not.

First we need to activate this option the operating system. To do this, click on an empty area of the desktop, right-click. A context menu will appear, in which select "Properties". In the resulting window click the tab "screen Saver". From the bottom of the info window is a button "Power". Click on this button. Then go to the tab "Sleeping mode". Then set the checkbox "Allow the use of sleep mode".

Now the desired option is activated. Accordingly, it is possible to transfer the computer into sleep mode. To do this, click "start". Then select "Disable". As you will notice in the window that appears has no buttons "Sleep mode", only "Waiting mode". Not to be confused with data modes - are two different things. In this window, click the Shift key.

After this you will see that instead of standby modeand now there is a "Sleep mode". For out of it you need to press the power button on your system unit. On some models of the motherboards Wake the computer from sleep modeand simply by pressing any button on your keyboard.

In Windows 7, sleep mode is replaced with hibernation. The difference is that after the computer goes into "sleep" data is written to the hard disk, not in RAM. After exit from "sleep" data is restored. For sleep mode on this operating system click "start". Hover over the arrow next to "Shut down". Then select "Sleep." After that your computer will be transferred in a mode of hibernation.
