Get a certificate of death of the deceased. If the person died while hospitalized, the hospital will conduct an autopsy and issue an opinion on the cause of death. If the deceased was regularly observed at the local therapist, having any chronic disease, then the help you can get in the clinic.

Call the police. This should be done, if the deceased had not been observed in the clinic or died out. Law enforcement officers must come and certify the death. Next, you need to call the morgue. They'll take the body for autopsy. Then you will be able to get a death certificate, which will indicate its cause.

Having the medical certificate of death, go to the district Registrar. Don't forget to take your passport and the passport of the deceased. After a few days you will be able to obtain a death certificate. The Registrar may refuse to issue you a certificate if they have a doubt on your relationship with the deceased, so that along with him the documents confirming this (e.g., certificate of marriage). The passport will be destroyed.

If for any reason the passport of the deceased is not possible, then get a judgment which and will be the basis for cancelling registration. For example, a citizen may be declared dead by the court, provided that his place of residence no information about the place of its stay within 5 years (clause 1 of article 45 of the RF Civil Code). In this case, you must apply to the court for recognition of the person deceased, and then on the basis of a court decision to discharge him.

Go to the district Department of the passport and visa service. Take the passport and the death certificate of the deceased. Write a statement about the cancellation of the registration of the deceased.
