Instruction
1
The Windows operating system is not sufficiently reliable from the point of view of security, new vulnerabilities it detects almost every week. As soon as the information about the vulnerability becomes known to the hacker community, the number of infected or compromised computers begins to grow very fast – as long as employees of company Microsoft will not release an update that closes the detected gap. It is therefore important to configure the operating system for automatic updates – in this case, remediation will occur most quickly.
2
To enable automatic updates in Windows XP OS, open "start – control Panel – Automatic updating". In the opened window select "Automatically".
3
If you are using Windows 7, open "start – control Panel – Windows update". Select in the left menu "settings" and set necessary options.
4
Remember that the automatic update is guaranteed to work without problems only with licensed version of Windows. In that case, if you are using a pirated version, try to update the system may lead to the fact that the update is blocked and the desktop, a message appears that you have installed unlicensed version of the operating system.
5
If you have to use pirated version of Windows 7, update your system manually. Review the list prepared for the installation of the updates – if there is an update KB971033, cancel the installation of this file. He checks the license key of the operating system. Install all the other update files and replace at the first opportunity, your OS licensed version, it will save you from many problems and troubles.
6
To update Windows by using the downloaded separate update packages, you can find them on the Internet. These packages can be installed automatically or manually. Be careful, do not download the update packages from unverified websites – very often such packages contain a Trojan.
7
If you have an older version of OS – e.g. Windows XP SP2, update it by installing the operating system Windows XP SP3 over the old one. The process of such updates is very simple: turn on computer, wait for the operating system to boot. Insert disk, click install Windows. In the window that appears, select "Upgrade (recommended)". During the installation process you will need to enter the installation key. When you install the update mode will keep all your programs and system settings.
