To limit the access by putting a password on a network folder with documents. You need to have administrator rights or power user (Power user). In the "control Panel" open the icon "Properties folder", go to the tab "View" and uncheck the item "Use simple General access to files".
Right click on the folder to which you want to share. If you have a FAT32 file system in the drop down menu choose the option "sharing and security".
Go to the tab "Access" and enable the radio button "share...". Other users will see the name of the folderthat you specify in the field "share". It may differ from the actual name. To restrict access to the folder, switch the "user Limit" set to "Not more than" and enter the desired value. Click "Add" and configure access permissions.
Under "Group or user names" use buttons "Add" and "Delete" to create the list of users with different rights. For each participant or group in the "Permissions" section, set the permissions by ticking the items "Full access", "Modify" or "Read". Click "Cache" to specify settings for offline file management. Icon folder open access is changing: it appears under the image of the open palm.
If you use NTFS, to set access parameters go to the tab "Security". When you first try to set access to the folder in the tab "Access" the system prompts you to run "network setup Wizard" or click on the link "If you understand the potential danger... click here". Choose convenient for you method and provide the parameters to access the folder.
Click the right mouse button on the icon "My computer" and select "Manage" from the drop down menu. Expand the snap-in "Local users". In the folders "Users" and "Groups", set password and access rights for each record. For this call drop down menu right click the mouse and use the commands "Set password" and "Properties". When you try to open a folder, the system will require you to enter a username and password, like "Guest" or 12345 "Invisible" noshow.
If the Security tab is not available, press Win+R and type gpedit.msc in the Open box. Snap-in expand the "user Configuration" then "Administrative templates" and "Windows Components". In the folder "file Explorer" look policy "Remove Security tab". If the status is "Enabled", call the context menu right click the mouse and click "Properties". Change the status to "Not set".
On the computer that is running Windows Home Edition is not possible to put a password on folders.
