Download the Converter for MP4 and AVI. Suitable Movavi Video Converter, Total Video Converter, Free MP4 to AVI Converter. Locate the app with the help of the Internet search engine and proceed to download it. Install the downloaded program by using the installer, following the instructions on the screen.

Launch the installed application using the desktop shortcut or through "start menu". Go to the tab "Settings" - "Conversion" or "Profiles". Set the resolution for the conversion of the MP4 file, and the final – AVI. If these items are not available in your chosen app, then you can skip this step.

Click on "File" - "Open". Select the file you want to recode. In the "destination Folder", specify a location to save the converted file and then hit "Convert". Wait until the end of the procedure, which can take quite a long time, depending on the quality and length of video.

The resulting file can be used for recording on digital storage media or portable devices.

Most software allows you to convert video to other popular formats, as AVI can be transcoded to MP4. Good converters allow you to change the size of the video and reduce its quality to reduce the final file size.
