What religious holidays you can't work

According to the fourth commandment, must work six days but to devote the seventh, the Sabbath, the service of God and godly matters, leaving the day care of others. In our day the old Testament Sabbath was changed to Sunday in the new Testament, do these days have a variety of cases, but the Church holidays are still revered as Holy days and are discharged on the spiritual life.

The fourth commandment

The call not to work on religious holidays goes back to the wording of the fourth commandment, which States "...six days do and "and make them all case yours the day seventh, Sabbath of the Lord thy God". The seventh day was supposed to engage in works of charity, to study the Word of God, visit temples to live a spiritual life, take care of your soul. In the same category fall and Church holidays dedicated to the saints and events from the Bible.

The most revered of all the holidays, in which to refrain from work - Easter, the Resurrection of Christ. It falls every year on the new date. But for most other holidays are fixed days.

Major Church holidays

7 January - Christmas
19 January - Epiphany (Epiphany)
15 February - Candlemas
7 April - Annunciation day (the day that Mary found out the good news of the birth from Her of the son of God)
The last Sunday before Easter - palm Sunday, Entry of Christ into Jerusalem
The fortieth day after Easter - the Ascension
The fiftieth day after Easter is Pentecost, the Descent of the Holy spirit on the apostles
August 19 - the Transfiguration of the Lord
August 28 - the Dormition of the Mother of God
21 September - Nativity of the blessed virgin Mary
September 27 - exaltation of the cross
December 4 - Introduction in temple Presvjatoj of the virgin

Additional Church holidays

They do not belong to the largest and most well-known, but nevertheless, if you have the opportunity, recommended them to refrain from work.

July 7 - the Nativity of John the Baptist
July 12 - Holy apostles Peter and Paul
21 may and 9 October - Holy Apostle John the theologian
May 22 and December 19 - St. Nicholas the Wonderworker
11 September - cut off the head of John the Baptist
October 14 - the shroud of the Mother of God
November 4 - the feast of the Icon of Kazan mother of God

What to do when work is necessary?

None of the Church's ban on weekend work and public holidays is not concerned with necessary and obligatory cases. Cooking, if we are talking about festive table and food for families, daily housekeeping, harvesting in summer and autumn, urgent repairs in the house are things that can not be delayed, and because they are allowed and are considered necessary. Discussed in the recommendations is primarily on those cases that do not fall into the category of necessary, or may be without prejudice postponed to the next day.
