Check the spark

If the engine is "nine" won't start, the problem may be a lack of fuel or lack of spark. To check spark remove with the help of candlestick key, one of the spark plugs, throw on her wire, and move it to the engine or the ground at a distance of 5-7 mm., the Assistant should make a short attempt to start the car. If between the spark and ground run through the spark, look for the cause in the fuel supply.

If there is no spark, it could be for the following reasons:
- malfunction of spark plugs;
- malfunction of the Hall sensor;
- breakdown of the ignition coil;
- problems with the ignition.

To check spark remove them and inspect the insulator of soot and grime. In the presence of carbon on the insulator, clean and wipe it off with fine sandpaper, then to be calcined. Check the clearances between the plug electrodes. It needs to be from 0.7 to 0.9 mm. adjust as necessary by bending side electrode. Try plugging a spare, checked the candle, in which health sure. If checked the spark the spark is present, replace the plugs. If the spare doesn't work either, check the ignition system.

Check the ignition

To test the Hall sensor, arm yourself with a voltmeter or a light bulb 12-14 In with the wires. Rotating the distributor, attach the voltmeter lead or wire the bulb to the contacts of the sensor. Correct the sensor, the voltmeter should show a jumping voltage, and the bulb to illuminate, then extinguish.

Check the ignition switch can be the same way. Attach the voltmeter lead wires or light bulbs to the contact "B+" and ground. Then turn on the ignition. If the voltage appeared (lamp lit), continue to check the ignition coil.

The coil is often oxidized feed its wires. Clean them and again check for spark. To check the coil plug is serviceable candle to its middle wire. If no spark appears, replace the coil.

At the same time open the distributor cap (ignition distributor) and inspect the wiring and contacts. If they are singed or damaged, replace the distributor or its cover. Inspect the slider to the distributor: it should not have visible damage, free to stand on the spring and securely touch all contacts on the distributor cap. The faulty slider can be replaced separately without changing the whole distributor.

The last problem may be the breakdown of high-voltage wires. The wire is checked by measuring the resistance at its contacts. If the resistance is infinite, the wire is faulty.

Having found the fault, replace defective parts with new.
