Syrup of licorice assigned to adults and children as an expectorant in diseases of the upper respiratory tract, accompanied by cough and bad discharge thick and viscous secretions (especially in children and the elderly).

To take root of licorice is required in the following dosages: adults – 1 teaspoon, diluted in ? a glass of warm water 3 times a day; children up to 2 years – 1-2 drops diluted in 1 teaspoon of water 3 times a day; children from 2 to 6 years 2 to 10 drops diluted in 1 teaspoon of water 3 times a day; children from 6 to 12 years: 50 drops, diluted in 1/2 glass of water 3 times a day; children over 12 years – 1/2 teaspoon diluted in 1 teaspoon of water 3 times a day. Because of the content in this preparation of ethyl alcohol must with great care to give a syrup of licorice kids.

The course of treatment syrup of licorice is 7-10 days. The need for repeated treatment determined by the doctor.

The use of syrup of licorice can provoke allergic reactions. In some cases, possible diarrhoeal phenomenon (diarrhea).

When the use of syrup of licorice exceeding these dosages can be side effects in the form of hypokalemia, increase in blood pressure, appearance of peripheral edema as a result of violations of water-salt metabolism.

Do not use syrup of licorice for people with individual intolerance to the drug, pregnant and nursing women, and people suffering from asthma, diabetes, gastritis, ulcers disease stomach and duodenal ulcer in the period of exacerbation.

Syrup of licorice should be stored in dark place at temperature not above 25 degrees away from children.

The shelf life of the syrup of licorice is 2 years. To use the drug after expiry date is strictly prohibited.
