Ways of infection
Chickenpox is transmitted exclusively by droplets. Man, the body of which caught the chicken pox is extremely contagious – 90% of contacts with patients leads to infection. For example, the infection of one child in the kindergarten group leads to the appearance of symptoms for the majority of his peers. The virus can also be spread through toys, however, the lifetime of an infection of varicella in the environment is low, and therefore the transfer of disease through common goods or in the street is unlikely.
Virus transmission occurs through breathing and coughing in close enough communication with the man. The patient with chickenpox can be contagious for 2 days before the appearance of the characteristic rash. Before the appearance of the rash the disease is not manifested.
The virus from a patient with chickenpox becomes impossible once there is a last element of the rash.
