Antispasmodics
Analgesic effect due to the relaxing effect, which antispasmodics exert on the uterus. One of the most popular drugs in this group is "no-Spa", which should take 1-2 tablets 3 times a day. "But-shpy" there are cheaper analogue under the name "Drotaverin". Another frequently used antispasmodic is a drug "Papaverine".
Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)
Pain during menstruation is often due to increased production of the hormone prostaglandin. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs inhibit prostaglandin synthesis, thereby arresting pain. The most commonly used drug of this group is "Ibuprofen". Also popular are painkillers such as "Naproxen", "Nise", "Indomethacin" and "Ketorol". However, it should be borne in mind that frequent use of these drugs can cause problems with the stomach and intestines.
Combined painkillers
These medicinal products contain analgesic and additives that increase its action. The basis of many combined drugs are paracetamol and analgin, which may be exacerbated by enhanced by caffeine and barbiturates. There are also combination pain medication that combines the analgesics, antispasmodics, caffeine and barbiturates.
Among the most popular combined painkillers such trademarks as "Solpadein", "Pentalgin", "Sedalgin", "no-Shpagin", "Kaffetin", "Panadol", "Effective", "Spazgan".
Very effective combined painkillers are drugs, which includes codeine. However, according to the Russian law, such drugs can only be purchased when prescribed by a physician.
Note that a combination of pain pills have serious side effects. Therefore, they should be taken only when expressed pain syndrome.
When to consult a doctor
Moderate menstrual pain that causes little discomfort and does not lead to a significant reduction in activity, are not cause for concern. Some women after the first birth, more than not experience discomfort during menstruation.
If during the critical days at the woman causing severe and prolonged pain, be sure to consult a doctor. Especially be wary if the pain is accompanied by other unpleasant symptoms — headache, intense weakness, nausea, fever, palpitations and vomiting.
