Instruction
1
Update in modern Windows operating systems are downloaded to a folder C:/Windows/SoftwareDistribution/Download. To find it, go to the menu "start" - "Computer". Click on the label "Local disk C:" and navigate to the Windows directory, and then locate the corresponding subfolders.
2
Files stored in this directory can be copied to any of the storage media on a flash drive, CD or DVD disk. If you need to reinstall the operating system store the files, and after the procedure is completed, just copy the updates into the same directory of the new Windows.
3
Over time, the number and size of files in the folder increase, which may affect the amount of free memory in the system. After installing all the updates, you can empty this folder by deleting all files. Before removing make sure all the updates were installed. Otherwise, Windows update will download the deleted packages again.
4
To disable the automatic download of updates, which are downloaded to this folder, go to Windows update. To do this, run the menu "start" - "control Panel" - "System and security" - "Windows update". You can also type in the search bar "start menu" query "updates" and choose the result.
5
In the left part of the window select "settings". In the window that appears select "never check for updates (not recommended)" from the drop-down list. Click "OK". Now in the directory Download will no longer receive new updates.
Note
Despite the fact that the downloaded files can take up a lot of space on the hard disk, it is recommended not to disable automatic updates. Some packs allow you to correct errors in the operating system to increase its safety and performance.
