"Pertussin" prescribed in the complex treatment of diseases of the respiratory tract (bronchitis, tracheitis, whooping cough). This formulation includes potassium bromide and extract of creeping thyme (thyme), as excipients used are sucrose and ethyl alcohol. The extract of thyme has expectorant, increases the amount of sputum, facilitates its dilution and improves its evacuation. Potassium bromide reduces the excitability of the Central nervous system, exerting a calming effect. The tool produced in the form of syrup, solution for oral administration.

The drug should be taken after a meal 3 times a day. Single dose for adults is 15 ml (1 tbsp). Children from 12 years are given 1 Dec.l. (10 ml), children aged 6 to 12 years - 1-2 tsp (5-10 ml) children aged 3 to 6 years - 0.5-1 tsp (2,5-5 ml). The course is 1.5-2 weeks. In agreement with the doctor increase the dose and duration of treatment. Full analogs "Pertussin" does not exist. Side effects "Pertussin" are heartburn and allergies. While taking the drug be aware that it includes ethyl alcohol (8-11%). The ethanol content in 1 tsp (5 ml) up to 0.43 g, 1 Dec.l. (10 ml) up to 0.87 g in 1 tbsp (15 ml) up to 1.3 g In the maximum daily quantity for adults - 3 tbsp (45 ml) is 3.9 g of ethyl alcohol. Therefore, during treatment, care should be taken to perform potentially hazardous activities requiring increased attention and speed of reaction. Because part of the funds of sucrose patients with diabetes need to carefully select the dose.

"Pertussin" contraindicated with hypersensitivity to its ingredients, liver disease, alcoholism, traumatic brain injury, epilepsy, chronic heart failure, children under the age of 3 years, during pregnancy and breastfeeding. The tool is not prescribed in case of fructose intolerance, deficiency of sucrose/isomaltase, glucose-galactose malabsorption. You should not use "Pertussin" along with other antitussive drugs, as this makes it difficult expectoration of viscous sputum.
