System requirements and preparations for installing WINDOWS 7 64 bit
For installation on a 64-bit version of Windows 7 is required:
the x64 processor with a clock frequency of at least 1 GHz
- at least 2 GB of memory (RAM)
- at least 20 GB of free hard disk space
- DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM driver version 1.0 or higher
- all the components of your computer or laptop needs to support the OS of this type.
For comfortable work the minimum hardware requirements need to increase at least twice. But if you have less than 4 GB of RAM, install Windows 7 64 bit does not make sense.
To find outwhether it is possible to install Windows 7 64 bit on your computer, open "control Panel" and select "information and tools for performance." In the opened window click on "view and print detailed performance information and system information". Here in the section "System" will indicate which type of system is used, and also includes information about support for 64-bit version of Windows.
In Windows XP, right-click the mouse on the icon "My computer" and select "Properties" from the context menu. If the "System" section says "x64 Edition", then you can safely install the 64-bit version of Windows. Otherwise download from Microsoft's free upgrade Advisor for Windows 7 and run it.
If the computer is running a 32-bit version of Windows to upgrade to Windows 7 64 bit, you might need a full reinstall. So be sure to:
1. Write down all the settings for Internet access: the method connect to the network, IP address, netmask, Wi-Fi access, etc., as well as the computer name.
2. Save all important files and settings to an external drive or a network share.
3. Download from the manufacturer website and save it on external media all necessary drivers (video, sound, network card). Remember that the device drivers released for Windows x86, won't work under 64-bit systems.
4. Most 32-bit applications will work in Windows 7 64 bit, but will need to set it again. So make sure that you have the downloads and serial numbers for products.
The installation of Windows 7 64 bit
Insert it into your computer bootable DVD or USB stick with stored setup files Windows. Reboot the system. At the time you start the computer press the function key to enter the BIOS. Assign the security settings, specify your time zone, set date and time. If the driver for your network card present in the distribution, and the computer connected to the Internet, the system will prompt you to specify the network type. You can choose "Home", "Public" or "work" network. They differ in the security settings. When this occurs, Windows gives a brief description of each of the three options. That's all. When the window appears select the operating system first, select Russian language, then Windows 7 Ultimate x64. If you select x86, it will be a 32-bit system.
After the computer restarts the first time, do not remove the drive. Select the options offered to you operating system: set the language, time zone, type the name of the future user and password.
Remember that most old programs and games only work on the 32-bit version. And new software is written for 32-bit and 64-bit systems. This means that if the program can't start because the version of Windows that you need to find a version for 64-bit systems.
Advice 3 : How to make a 64-bit system
In some situations, it is recommended to install the 64-bit operating system. This is especially true in the case if your PC or laptop has more than 3GB of RAM.
