The first thing you need to make sure that your network controller is determined by your operating system. It is possible to do so. Just right click the icon "My computer". Then in the context menu click on Properties. If you have Windows XP, then go first on the "Hardware tab" and clicking "device Manager". In the case of the Windows 7 operating system, you can immediately select "device Manager".

This will bring up a list of devices that are connected to your computer. Look in the "Ethernet controller". Near it should be a question mark. This means that the device is in the system, but driver is not installed.

Now you need to install a driver for this device. It needs to be packaged to the system Board and in its name must have the word Ethernet. Install the driver from the disk.

If for any reason you do not have a driver disk for the motherboard, you can go to the manufacturers website and where to find them for your network controller. Download driver. Unpack the archive to any folder. Run the executable (. Exe) file. Using "installation Wizard" to install the driver on your computer. Then restart the PC.

After rebooting again, go to "device Manager". Now, instead of the question mark will be written the model of the network controller. This means that the device is fully ready to work.

From the bottom on the taskbar, on the right side, you should have an icon that displays the network. To the controller when you connect the network cable and get Internet access, it will display on the icon. Also, in some cases, you will see the network speed.
