Unlike Russian, English has a non-free word order in sentences. If we can say, "I love to sing" by rearranging the words as you like, and the value does not change, the order of the sentence in English the phrase is simply, fixed. One of the first and the basic rules that you need to know at the initial stage of study in any English sentence must contain subject and predicate. So no matter how heard phrase in Russian ("Dark"), in English it will be both of the mentioned item: It's getting dark.
2
The sentence is constructed as follows: the subject expressed by a noun, (Subject) + predicate expressed by the verb (Object). The common proposal will look like this: circumstance – definition – subject – verb – complement. To make a statement, first select two the main part of the sentence – predicate and subject – and put them in the correct order, without disconnecting. Additions answering the question "what?" "who?", "for what?" put after the verb in this order: indirect, direct and prepositional. Definitions ("what?") always precede the subject, circumstance (time, place) can be put in the beginning and the end of the sentence.
3
In negative sentences you must use a particle not” If the verb is a regular verb, put the subject after the auxiliary word do” in the required form (does, did) not (I don't drink coffee). To any form of the verb be, attach the particle not (It's not true).
4
In interrogative sentences it is necessary to change the order of the words. There are four types of question in English: General, alternative, special and so-called tag-question. Most of them are primary members, add-ons, circumstances, definitions remain in their seats. But in the beginning it is necessary to put a question word (if it is a special question) or auxiliary verb (is, do,did, etc.). "The issue with the tail" has the same word order as the statement, but in the end you need to put the end isn't it?, did you, don't they? and others, depending on which verb is used and in what form – negative or positive.
5
Learn the above rules for constructing sentences. When you do exercise in which you must build the phrase from existing words, you first determine the kind of sentences: question, statement, negation. If it is a question, determine its type. Highlight the main sentence, put them in the correct order. Define the order of the other elements, select the appropriate auxiliary word.
