Instruction
1
Any enamel apply with a brush, roller or spray gun. If you want to use enamel, do a thorough surface preparation. Remove all the old layers of paint. This can be done with the help of versatile washes, building dryer or mechanically, using improvised materials. If you need to level the surface, then use a filler, as if to apply enamel on an uneven surface, they will become even more noticeable.
2
Cover the wood surface with linseed oil, this will reduce the consumption of the enamel and make the color more even and intense. Iron the surface with a special type of primer designed for steel surfaces.
3
Nitroenamel made on the basis of nitrocellulose lacquer is not resistant to moisture and sun, so use it only in dry spaces or for decorative covering of furniture. The same can be said of acidic enamel. It is though more durable than a nitroenamel, but better use it indoors.
4
If you are going to paint surfaces that are prone to moisture and atmospheric influences, use oil enamel, as it is based on linseed oil that protects the wooden surface from moisture, swelling and destruction.
5
The most used and having a huge popularity is alkyd enamel. Use them to paint any surface inside and outside. Apply any type of enamel not less than two layers. First, apply one layer. Let it completely dry for 24-36 hours then apply a second coat.
6
If you bought the enamel, opened the jar and found that enamel coated dried film, gently remove it. Thick enamel dilute with solvent to the desired consistency. If you are going to use a spray enamel, be sure to dilute as any of the enamel has a fairly thick composition, which can be easily applied by brush or roller, but the spray can become clogged.
